Assignment 4: Using Shape to Explore Balance

This picture was taken up at Washington Park. It employs mainly geometric shapes because of the bricks and the thin metal frame's angular features. On the contrast, the bird bath has some round, organic features, but is still primarily geometric. This is an example of asymmetrical balance, due to the void space on the left half of the photo whereas the right side has a subject to fill it.

The origin of this picture was from Pettygrove Park. It uses radial balance because the "legs" of the sculpture seem to come out from the center. This is all organic shapes, very loose, random curves and contours.
